Do you believe in Magic? Humans have been obsessed with Magic for all ages. Today slight of hand and medium magicians entertain us like Houdini, David Copperfield, and Shin Lin. Literature is full of magic from Merlin to Harry Potter. Magic is a power a man possesses to make something happen that defies science and logic. How wonderful is the magic that unlocks a child’s imagination.
What about Miracles? The bible is full of miracles of healing, feeding multitudes, and raising people from the dead. Miracles happen today in our world, not just in olden times, and for believers they happen by the power of God.
In short, magic is something performed by men, by the will of men, for man’s purposes, and without any legitimate supernatural component. Miracles are performed by God, by the will of God, and for God’s purposes, purely by His power. Those who dismiss biblical miracles as “magic” misunderstand both.
But I would submit to you that it is magical how we can love one another and truly a miracle that love exists.
