Santa’s March Thoughts

I am including my post from 2021, as it is one of my favorites, but my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Ukraine. War is the single worse scourge of humankind. It is in direct conflict with the message of Christmas. Please pray for Peace.

Happy St. Paddy’s Day. Santy will have to partake of a nice pint of Guinness in honor of a great 5th, century saint. He lived a couple of centuries after Saint Nicholas, and like Daidí na Nollag (Daddy of Christmas), St Patrick also had many legends and stories told of his great love for Jesus Christ. Probably the most famous was his driving out the snakes from Ireland. My favorite was the story of the shamrock.

The concept of the Holy Trinity states that there is only one God but that God is made up of the God the father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit. It is a difficult concept, which has occupied the minds of theologians for 2,000 years. Legend has it that the pagan people St Patrick was trying to convert just couldn’t understand this seemingly contradictory idea that God was both one and three at the same time. St Patrick is said to have used the shamrock as a way of explaining the mystery to them. The shamrock was a single plant made up three leaves, each leaf represent one facet of God.

  • What do you call a fake Irish stone? A shamrock!
  • Why shouldn’t you iron a four-leaf clover? You might press your luck!
  • Why do we wear shamrocks on St. Patrick’s Day? Because real rocks are too heavy.
  • What kind of music should you listen to on St. Patrick’s Day? Sham-rock and roll.
  • Where can you always find a shamrock? In the dictionary.
  • What did one shamrock say to the other when it saw a leprechaun? Look clover there.
  • What do you say if you lose a game on St. Patrick’s Day? Game clover.
  • What do you say to the smartest person you know on St. Patrick’s Day? You’re very clover!
  • What does it mean if you find a four-leaf clover? That you have too much time on your hands!
  • What’s an Irish jig at McDonald’s called? A Shamrock Shake.

My favorite St. Paddy’s Day Joke.

What do you get if you cross Christmas with St. Patrick’s Day? St. O’Clause!

Bring the LOVE and share it!
